  • Restart your PC or computer(Start >> Power >> Restart), then click twice on QuickBooks to open it
  • Click on the Employees then My Payroll service
  • Choose Account/Billing Information. Make sure that your payroll subscription status sets to Active
  • Choose the Close option. Now, your QuickBooks software associates with the server.

2. Make sure that your service key is correct you receive from Intuit, Check it now:

  • Open QuickBooks Service Key window
  • From your company file, click on the Employees >> My Payroll service. If the payroll has already set up then select Manage Payroll Service otherwise Add Payroll Service.
  • Select Employees >> Payroll >> Enter Payroll Service Key (if you don’t have a payroll service in the QuickBooks company file).
  • Inside the QuickBooks service key window, click on Add only if you’re not working with the disk delivery service and if the payroll is not listed, else Click on the Edit for already listed payroll
  • Inside the Service Key window(if you’re working with the disk delivery service then choose Edit. Get a note of the Service Key.
  • It’s time to remove the Payroll service Key in QuickBooks
  • Click on the Add then continue with the steps
  • Manually put your service key inside the Service Key field,(if you are having a disk delivery service, you are required to enter the latest disk delivery service key you get received).
  • If you’re having the disk delivery service then you need to enter the disk delivery service key you get received.
  • Click Next >> Finish
  • Once the Payroll Update message starts appearing just hit the OK button
  • Verify your service Status sets to Active and then choose OK
  • Now check if your service key is correct or not.

3. Check Date and Time of your PC or computer

  • First of all, close QuickBooks 
  • Press Windows+R keys simultaneously from your keyboard to open the Run command
  • Manually type Control and click OK
  • Choose Clock and Region
  • Click on the Date and Time
  • Make sure that your already set date and time are accurate. If not then click on the change date and time to do the correct changes in it.
  • At last, click on the OK button

4. Add Intuit’s URL as a Trusted Site in the settings of Internet Explorer

  • Click on the Windows + R key from your keyboard to open the Run Command. Then type iexplore, then the icon of Internet Explorer will shows on your screen, click to open it 
  • Now visit their Tools >> Internet Options
  • Click on the Security tab
  • Click on the Trusted sites icon
  • To add the Intuit IRL as a trusted site you have to go inside the Add this website to the zone box enter: *.intuit.com
  • Choose to clear the Require server verification (Use https: for all sites in this zone checkbox)
  • Click on the Close then OK

5. Check whether your Internet Explorer settings are accurate or not

Use Internet Explorer as your default browser

  • Press and hold Windows+R keys simultaneously from your keyboard to open the Run command
  • Manually type inetcpl.cpl to open Internet Properties then hit OK
  • Click on the Programs tab
  • Choose Make Internet Explorer the Default Browser
  • Inside the Web Browser, choose Internet Explorer to make a default browser of your PC or computer

Temporary Internet Files deletion

  • Press and hold Windows+R keys simultaneously from your keyboard to open the Run command
  • Manually type inetcpl.cpl to open Internet Properties then hit OK
  • Click on the Delete option 
  • Choose Temporary Internet Files and Website Files >> Delete

Make Sure TLS 1.2 is Checked

  • Under the Internet Properties, you have to click on the Advanced tab
  • Now move the cursor to the Security section
  • Check whether your TLS 1.2 is checked or not
  • You are also required to make sure that TLS 1.0 & TLS 1.1 are unchecked if you have checked TLS 1.2

6. Configure your firewall, antivirus or another security program, or third-party applications

You need to configure your firewall or other applications to allow internet access to the listed QuickBooks files.

  • C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 200X\QBW32.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 200X\qbupdate.exe

7. Now perform a clean install of QuickBooks in a Selective Startup Mode 

Check that there are no other applications available that hinder your work. Switch to Selective Startup mode if you haven’t done it already. If you are uncomfortable in following the manual procedure then contact your Computer’s manufacturer or Windows experts to do this remotely for you.

  • Press Windows+R from your keyboard to open the Run command
  • Manually type msconfig, then click on the OK option 
  • Inside the General tab, choose the Selective startup and Load system services
  • Go to the Services tab, then choose the Hide all Microsoft Services
  • Click on the Disable all
  • Unchecked your Hide all Microsoft services checkbox.
  • Verify that you have checked the Windows Installer checkbox from the list of services, if not checked it now
  • Click on the OK option
  • On the System Configuration window, choose Restart
