Solutions to Fix QuickBooks Error Something’s not Quite Right. Email Address Already in Use
There are multiple ways through which you can resolve this error. From here you will know all the paths that make the most sense for your team as well as your firm. So start following it:
Solution 1: Reactivating their Existing User Profile
When it shows “email address is in use”, this indicates that your team member already has a user profile. Now Team Leader needs to ask them to log in to their account and check for the invite. If the team member is unable to sign in to their account, ask them to follow the steps to recover the sign-in information or reset your password. Sign In problems can occur due to:
- The password you’re using is incorrect
- Unmatched combination of Email Id and Password
Steps to Recover the Sign-in Information
Resetting QuickBooks Online Accountant Password can also do resets in other Intuit Products. These products include TurboTax or Mint(only if you’re previously created the account on it).
- Visit the QuickBooks Online Accountant Sign-in page
- Now click on I forget my user Id or Password
- Follow the on-screen instructions to end this process
Note: When you click on I forget my user ID or Password, it starts checking your identity and authenticity. If you have added an email address or User Id for your account verification, you receive an email from Intuit along with a password resetting link. If using your phone number then you receive a message with a password resetting link on your device. If you didn’t get an email, check our email address or User Id and try again.
You have to make sure that your team member is not marked as inactive for your firm. To check whether the user profile is active or inactive, just go into the QuickBooks Online Account and check it now. If you found your profile inactive, this means you’re no longer able to connect with your firm. To make it active once again, do the following:
Steps to Make Inactive Members Active
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online Account with administrator-level permissions
- Visit the Team menu >> Access tab
- Choose the Small gear icon ⚙ at the top of the list
- Click on Include Inactive checkbox
- Browse and search the team Inactive member and then click on Edit inside the Action Column
- From the Status▼ dropdown menu, click on Active
- Click on the Yes option to confirm and to make inactive members active
Solution 2: Sending an Invitation to a Different Email Address
If your team member has another email address, just ask them to send an invitation to that email. This helps in resolving the “Something’s not quite right. Email Address already in Use.” error issue by adding a new email for a new team member profile.
Steps to Add a New Team Member
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online Account with administrator-level permissions
- Go to Team menu >> Add User
- Now enter your team member info. Then click on Next
- Inside the Access drop-down menu, choose an access level then hit Next
- Choose the clients that you would like to have as your team member with full admin-level permissions
- Once you’re done, click on the Save option to save all the changes
Solution 3: Edit the Existing User Email Address
It happens very rarely that your existing team member has the same email having your new team member. You have to make them separate from one another through Edit. Go inside the QuickBooks Online Accountant and change their email address or edit a team member’s information.
Steps To Edit a team member’s info
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online Account with administrator-level permissions
- Reach the Team menu then click on the Access tab
- Search the team member and then click on the Edit option inside the Action column
- Do any changes you would like to have(if required)
- Once you’re done, click on the Save option
This frees up the email address so that you can send an invite one more time to your new team member.
